Larry E. McSherry, 82, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Gardens at Gettysburg, Gettysburg, PA.
Born November 30, 1941, in East Berlin, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Ethel P. (Hoke) McSherry. Larry was the loving husband of the late Arlene M. (Menges) McSherry with whom he shared forty-five years of marriage until her passing on October 22, 2008.
Larry was a member of the Church of the Open Door, York, PA.
Larry worked for Leinhart Bros. Furniture for fifteen years and as a career fire fighter for the Borough of Hanover for thirty-three years until his retirement in 2007.
Larry was a member of the Hanover Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 2045, the International Association of Fire Fighters, the International Fire Photographers Association, a life-member of Clearview Fire Co. #3, the Train Collectors Association, a life-member of Friendship Fire Company of Hanover, and the AARP.
Larry is survived by two brothers, Donald Rosenzweig and Jerry Lee McSherry; three sisters, Sandra Brooks, Brenda Reaver, and Dawn Reichert; his nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce A. Shaffer.
A Fireman’s Funeral to celebrate and remember Larry will be held 11AM, Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Robert Reidy officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10-11AM, Friday, April 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
