Gary E. Wentz, 82, of Spring Grove, PA, entered God’s eternal care Friday, March 29, 2024, at UPMC – York Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born September 12, 1941, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Elwood and Viola (Wantz) Wentz. Gary was the loving husband of Linda E. (Luckenbaugh) Wentz with whom he shared sixty-three years of marriage.
Gary attended Hanover First Church of God.
Gary was a 1959 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA. He was a carpenter and retired in 2012, having worked for White Rose Interiors and Wentz Brothers and Son for fifty-three years – having built his own home and his children’s homes.
Gary enjoyed genealogy, gardening, camping, biking, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife Linda, Gary is survived by his children, Lora A. Gross and husband Joseph, Julie L. Wentz, Matthew R. Wentz and wife Jeannine and Benjamin G. Wentz and wife Bobbi Jo, all of Spring Grove, PA; eleven grandchildren, Kristin, Elicia, Brittany, Ashley, Joshua, Zachary, Megan, Kody, Jordan, Jonah, and Chase; seven great-grandchildren and two on the way, Colin, Aliya, Raelyn, Zoey, Myles, Bria, and Emma; a brother, David Wentz; and two sisters, Barbara Spicer and Vicki Kennedy. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ian Wentz; and a sister, Donna Wentz.
A funeral to celebrate and remember Gary will be held 11AM, Monday, April 8, 2024, at First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Dan Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA. Viewings and times to share memories with the family will be held from 6-8PM, Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA as well as from 10-11AM, Monday, April 8, 2024, at the church.
