Bernard E. “Bunk” Sneeringer, 95, of Cross Keys Village, entered God’s eternal care on April 10, 2024. Born November 3, 1928, in Bonneauville, he was the son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Hufnagle) Sneeringer.
Bunk is survived by his devoted wife, Anna G. (Clabaugh) Sneeringer to whom he was married for 71 years. He is also survived by children Donna Hooper and spouse Wayne, William Sneeringer and spouse Cathy all of Hanover and Julie Ripple of McSherrystown. In addition, grandchildren, Amy Secor, and spouse Michael of York, PA, Matthew Smith and spouse Amie of Tomball, TX, and Andrea Rebert and spouse Kyle of Aurora, CO, Justin Ripple, and five great grandchildren, Ryan Secor, Charlotte Smith, Olivia Smith, Anna Rebert, and Michaela Rebert; as well as brother Benjamin Sneeringer and sister, Justina Meckley. Bunk was predeceased by brothers, Rodney and Francis Sneeringer, and sisters, Rita Walter, Anna Miller, Sr. Dolores Sneeringer, Loretta Orndorff, and Catherine Teresa Sneeringer and grandson, Justin Noel.
Bunk graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army in Guam and Korea from 1948- 1952 when he was discharged as Sgt. 1st class. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg after 33 years of service.
Bunk was a member of the Bonneauville Catholic War Veterans, the Gettysburg American Legion, and the Hanover Standardbred Chorus. He was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Bonneauville, where he served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, CCD teacher and choir member.
Bunk loved sports, especially his beloved NY Yankees and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He spent much of his free time singing with his Barbershop Quartet, The Sounding Board.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM, Monday April 15, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 E. Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville) PA, with Rev. Joseph Gotwalt as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph the Worker Church Cemetery.
A viewing time to share memories with the family will be held from 2 -4 PM on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 66 E. Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville) PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church or Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home.
